Please Note: All ssMaritime and other related maritime sites are 100% non-commercial and privately owned, thus ssmaritime is NOT associated with any shipping company or any other organisation! Although the author has worked and been involved in the passenger shipping industry for well over 60 years, but due to his old age and poor health, he was forced to retire. Yet, he has completed well over 1,435 Classic Liners, Passenger-Cargo Liners as well as humble converted C3 converted Migrant Liners, which has transported countless thousands folk to the new world, as well on vacations’. I trust the features online will continue to provide Classic Liner and Ship enthusiasts both the information they are seeking, but more so provide a great deal of pleasure and relive many happy memories!

This is a pre launch Cunard postcard of the R.M.S. Mauretania and I decided to used it for this feature’s logo

Please Note: Postcards, photographs & other images are either from the author’s private collection or from my supporters.

Thus a very special thank you to five very special ssmaritime supporters for sending me their wonderful

photographs & images for I could not have completed this feature to this point.

I am sorry but some of the images shown may not be of the highest quality, but they are the best that are available

Brochures, Menus,

Souvenirs & Memorabilia,

And Deck Plans

This page contains many vintage treasures from days long gone, and they have been retained by passengers and collectors, who have kindly sent images to me and have given me permission to use them. Sadly some of these wonderful people, have passed away, as I received the images around 19 years ago, as I explained on Page One, I commenced this feature then, but fell ill and lost it and found it again recently, and slowly have been completing it with the help of a dear friend, as I can no longer do it alone in my old age and extreme poor health. I trust you will enjoy the contents!

Brochures:

Below are a number of “Mauretania” brochures, some will include her near and ill-fated sister the “Lusitania” as they sailed together of course until the war.

The first brochure is very special and it is extremely rare, I can only show you its beautiful embossed cover, although I do have the rest, but due to problems with my system recently I lost a great deal, and currently I can no longer scan to my system anymore. It was released in 1906 and it covers both the “Lusitania” and the “Mauretania”.

Above & below: This remarkable introduction brochure is superbly embossed

and contains an excellent description of both ships

Here is another high class embossed brochure promoting this quality liner

This brochure also introduces both ships and provided a great deal of information on them,

but then again, I have at least covered a great deal of the great R.M.S. Mauretania

-

These two were very special indeed

-

These were the more traditional brochures

Menus:

First Class Menus:

First Class obvious was able to serve full a’ la Carte meals in certain suites and staterooms as the “Rergal Suite”, not only had Parlor (Lounge), but also a Dining Room as well as two bed rooms and many other facilities. Two waiters and a stewardess would be and provide a full service, with individual courses arriving fresh and hot! A wine waiter would be in attendance separately to attend to the gests need for wine, etc.

Below is a general menu that was provided to the Regal Suites and En-Suite Staterooms should they desire to dine in their rooms.

The above was the menu for a diner in 1907

A Lunch menu for November 26, 1907

For Jewish passengers, a Kosher Menu for July 8, 1913

Another Lunch Menu for June 27, 1922

Above & below: A Cover and Diner Menu for March 29, 1934

Second Class Menu:

A Diner Menu for September 21, 1908

A Breakfast Menu for October 10, 1928

Third Class Menu:

For interest, lunch was usually a full hot cooked meal thus not on this menu

A Third Class Lunch for August 25, 1929

I regret the menu was in such a bad state when I found it, thus I had to

make it as legible as possible, but could not make it as good as I wished
