With Dr. Reuben Goossens, Ph.D. D.Litt, D.H.L., D.H.S & D.J.H.

Introducing the Fabulous M.S. Queen Anne due in May 2024:

The M.S. Queen Anne will introduce this BRAND NEW BLACK & -GOLD- CUNARD LOGO.

and as seen on her topside photographic logo!

The world famous luxury line, CUNARD LINE will be introducing a brand new fourth Cru'se ship in May 2024, and she will be named the “Queen Anne”. Of course a famous red funnel will remain on her; however the ship will have a brand new ultra modern inspired livery, with a finessed design with a brand new designed iconic crest and the introduction of a new font inspired by the grand ocean liners of the past.

In 2017, CUNARD announced the order of a fourth Cruise Ship to operate together with their current other three ships, the “Queen Mary 2”, “Queen Elizabeth” and the “Queen Victoria”, this new ship is the fourth Cruise Ship to join the fleet their current fleet, and she will be the 249th ship Cunard ship in history.

Who was Queen Anne?

 H.R.H. Queen Anne (1702 to 1714).

The M.S. Queen Anne was named after the late H.R.H. Queen-Anne. First Queen Anne of EnglandScotland and Ireland from March 8, 1702 until May 1, 1707. However, on May 1, 1707, under the ‘Acts of Union’, the Kingdoms of England and Scotland united as a single sovereign state known as “Great Britain”. Thus Queen Anne did continue to reign as the “Queen of Great Britain and Ireland” until her passing in 1714.

Her very Special Captain:

Regulars certainly will not have to worry that the ultra modern M.S. Queen Anne will be completely devoid of the traditional and classic CUNARD hallmarks that the company is famous for. For there is no doubt that;

“You will still see the heritage”, explains The Queen Anne’s new female  Captain Inger Klein Thorhaug, "but I think you’ll experience a new or a more modern way of doing Cunard as well.”

Finally it has happened that a lady has become a Captain of a Luxurious Cruise Ship, let us face it, for ladies are now flying all over the World as pilot’s, especially Qantas Australian female Pilots and their Senior female Captains are proving to be outstanding, and they set the  standard now Cunard at long last has decided to follow the female way and accepted at last a woman Captain, about time Cunard, you are a bit late! Captain Inger Klein Thorhaug will do an simply amazing job! Cunard regulars certainly will not have to worry that the modern M.S. Queen Anne will be completely devoid of the traditional and classic CUNARD hallmarks that the company is famous for. There is no doubt about that; she stated!

Captain Inger Klein Thorhaug will do an amazing job!

But it will be their very next Cruise Ship that will make much bigger history for IT WILL THEIR 250TH SHIP EVER AND THAT WILL BE A HUGE EVENT!

The M.S. Queen Anne will have a  tonnqage of 113,000 GRT (Gross Registered Tons), and she will carry an average of 2,794 Guests on a cruise.

But remember although they use ultra-modern ships these day’s, CUNARD are still based in the 1800’ds, you may ask why? It is mostly that all their ships are still segregated into Three separate Classes, but these are now called “Britannica Class”, Princess Grill, and the ultimate Queen’s Grill”, Rather than First Class, Second Class and Third Class, or as it later became First Class, Tourist Class, and Migrant Class, etc. The big difference is that now no matter what CUNARD grade you are in the service is simply sublime as is the food and the accommodation and the ships facilities are supreme!

Design and Construction:

In June 2019 Cunard announced the official internal design team for the public spaces, externally she is going to be just another Pinnacle-Class Ship externally, she does look’s  like a big and a very top heavy style of ship, looking more like a floating hotel than a ship. Steel cutting commenced at the “Fincantieri’s Castellammare di Stabia” Shipyard on October 11, 2019.

Then the unfinished fully enclosed part of the bow section of the ship was launched on August 2022, without any ceremony.

Above & below: Two images of her bow section being launched which was

then towed to their wharves in Venice to be completed. This was a weird system!

Her forward section arrived in the water and was transferred to their Marghera Wharf at Venice on August 2022, where she would dry docked once again and be fully completed at a cost of around US$$600 million.

There in due time the two sections were joined and in due course the famous but slightly different CUNARD funnel was fitted.

Her new Cunard (her traditional red, with 2 black lines) Funnel is being Fitted.

Her Modern Interiors:

This is how she will be seen during her cruise in May 2024.

Décor

The only thing I do not like about modern ships a spacious promenade Decks. For they no longer exist. All there is balconies, but these are just private and useless when you need to get into a life boat. There are those  top decks of course, but they are useless and the worse place to be in a bad situation.

There is no doubt that her interior decorations are certainly ultra modern, especially for those who love that modern touch, but there will always be that delightful touch here and there of the trational Cunard Feel and amazing Style. It will certainly serve that new younger new generation to the Cunard Cruise range! In the past I have on so many P&O Ships fro the Day;s of the Himlaya and many other’s including the Oriana, Canberra, Arcadia of and the, ex HAL and HAL ships and the all have wonderful Suites with disabled facilities, but personally I would love to take my 300th voyage, which I am looking forward to it, but due to my health it will be tough, buy God willing I will make it, and I will choose a ship of my choice., but sadly Princess ships do not have disabled de-Luxe suite on them, just small cabins and what they call staterooms, which are far too small! Princess ships are designed built and sadly they obviously have a HUGE dislike to people like me!

There is no doubt that the M.S. Queen Anne will offer her guests more choices than ever before in cuisine and dining styles, from the ultimate in fine dining experiences to casual meals, also for those who enjoy a light bite, or those delightful indulgent treats and signature Afternoon Tea. The Queen Anne will debut a number of exciting new options. Feel free to dine as you wish with an array of flavours to choose from all over the ship, throughout the entire day.

M.S. Queen Mary 2 and M.S. Queen Victoria Cruising from Australia 2023 & 2024:

In the meantime both the wonderful the Queen Elizabeth and the Amazing Queen Mary 2 will be sailing from Australia from November 27, 2023 until March 23 2024. Take the chance and go on a cruise that is really worth while! Other wise go why not head off on a good value, and great fun - P&O Cruise as I have sailed on then since the Himalaya, and I have always had a wonderful time right until the “Pacific Aria”, their best Ship ever! Well let’s face it she was a luxururious “Holland America Line” Ship and P&O Australia did an amazing job renovating her and she was the best ship they ever had! But my countless cruises on the day’s of the Fairstar from the Sitmar days, to her closing days of P&O, it was just wondrous!

I have always looked out where crews were well looked after and also well fed, etc. And those who were nothing short from atrocious! I know who are the best and who are the really the poor ones. But CUNARD look’s after their crew really well, thus accordingly they in turn offer you the very finest of service in typical CUNARD style!, P&O, Princess Cruises, and Holland America Line, according to their Star rating, and it is good, as I have sailed on P&O on countless times!

But Cunard is a whole different story for onboard their guests are treated so much better and with the very best of honour all Cunard guest’s deserve! For they are their most honoured guests, and I believe that is the way all guests on all ships should be treated, like it used to be, but things do chance, as have we, have we not? M.S  Queen Anne will call to Australia
